Disney World Pedometer Totals

We have had a little bit of time to settle in since we have returned from our vacation to Disney World, and now that the holidays have passed, we wanted to give an update on the totals from our pedometers. We always wondered how much walking we actually did while at Disney, and now we have a good guage. Here are the totals:

FYI:Pam has more steps is because Matt's stride is longer and so, therefore, he takes less steps.

Sunday (the day we arrived--so not many steps)
Matt 2,112 Pam 2,247

Monday
Matt 19,484 Pam 23,306

Tuesday
Matt 15,479 Pam 17,523

Wednesday
Matt 15,002 Pam 17,002

Thursday
Matt 12,156 Pam 15,156

Friday
Matt 17,933 Pam 20,690

Saturday
Matt 19,019 Pam 22,443

Totals: Matt: 101, 185 Pam: 118, 367

We both walked approximately 50 miles each while were there for the week. We thought that was pretty amazing.

We're Back!

After an eventful week at Walt Disney World we are back home. We met up with our table 50 friends for a Disney cruise reunion. To our surprise Clint flew down at the drop of a hat and spent two days at the parks with us. Pam and I saw pretty much everything there was to see while we were there. We even hit Universal Studios Orlando and Universal's Islands of Adventure. IOA was a nice place but it still doesn't come close to Disney even overlooking my bias. We went to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and saw Holiday Wishes fireworks. All in all we had a great time. We uploaded our pictures and a few short videos to our Picasa Web Album feel free to check it out.

Damn it

From cnn.com:
CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida (CNN) -- The space shuttle Discovery rocketed into the darkness Saturday evening, the 117th shuttle flight and the first night launch in four years.

"And liftoff of the space shuttle Discovery, lighting up the nighttime sky as we continue building the international space station," said NASA TV announcer George Diller.

Liftoff was at 8:47 p.m. ET

Well, we're still at home. So I guess this means we won't be watching a shuttle launch this time.

Fun in the Sun

Greeting's from the blogosphere

We are in the middle of packing for our lastest trip to see Mickey (and the Yeti of course). We are having a Table 50 reunion with our entire dinner table from our October 2005 cruise on the Disney Magic. We are also for the first time in many years strolling down toward International Drive and are going to visit Universal Studios Orlando and IOA (Islands of Adventure). On top of that if the weather holds my way for the next few days, we will try to run to the coast and watch first-hand Space Shuttle Discovery (STS-116) head for the ISS. The problem is you almost never know if it's gonna go until it is in the air. I'm hoping that NASA has a touch of GO FEVER!.

I have configured my cell phone using Flickr to automatically upload pictures I take with my cell phone camera straight to the blog. So please check back time to time in the next week or so and comment on some cool candid photos from our trip.

James Kim

I am sure most of you have heard the news reports in the last few days about the father that left his family in a stranded car to go get help in the mountains of Oregon. If you haven't heard the story here's the link http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/12/07/missing.family/index.html

When Pam told me about this story in passing, I really didn't pay much attention to it. Then once they found that the Father had died and began publishing his name more heavily, I was shocked to realize I knew who he was.. James Kim. James was on the cable channel Techtv a few years back. I used to watch him all the time and even learned a lot from him on screen. After Techtv went off the air James worked at cnet.com as an editor. I found myself taking advice from him again in the form of articles and podcasts. He was definitely a Geek's Geek.

Leo Laporte worked with James at Techtv. Leo now does the TWiT(this week in tech) Podcast. Check out Leo's blog if you have the time, I think he did a nice job.

Xmas Lights

This will be the third Christmas in our house and Pam had never hung lights outside. So with her urging and great weather we decided to go to Meijer and buy-out their Christmas light dept. The end result can be seen here.

What's in a name?

If I had a dollar for everytime someone thought that sensorytickle.com was some sort of porn site, we could get lifetime web hosting for the domain. So what does it mean? If you try to look it up it's not on Wikipedia or Google for that matter. A Sensory Tickle is a term WDI (Walt Disney Imagineering) uses to explain the enviromental changes moving from one of their themed areas to another. This is mostly used in their themeparks, but can be found in shopping areas and restaurants as well. This can be a change in area music, added roughness to a concrete walkway, pretty much anything that alerts your attention that you are entering something different. With that being said, The Sensory Tickler seemed like a Blog name too good to pass up. If you don't know what a tickler file is click ---> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tickler_file

I'm not sure what this Blog will consist of just yet. We will try to make it halfway interesting and try to keep the content fresh. Until next time.
